Published by the Folio [Society] Press, 1974.
The book is in very good condition, with black cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine and beautiful gilt illustrations to both boards. It would have been published with two wrappers, including a dust jacket; the extract page is still included (see photo). The book includes black and orange line illustrations by Mervyn Peake in the text, and a fourteen-page introduction by John Hampden, as in the first Folio edition. No reading lean. Spine tight. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions. Pages clean, with no foxing.
This is a re-issue of the Folio Society edition, which was published in 1948. This copy is reprinted by photo litho in 1974. The unique design of the book with the contrasting pale yellow and black cloth encapsulates the dual identity of the main character in Stevenson's famous novel.
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
