The book is in excellent condition bound colour illustrated cloth, with gilt lettering to spine. It is housed in an olive slipcase, which is also in excellent condition, with minimal shelfwear or scuffing.
A later revised edition of book first published in 1973. The book includes black and white illustrations, as well as colour illustrations and maps throughout. It explores the history and development of food through the centuries.
