The book is in excellent condition and bound with green cloth boards heavily decorated with a design by Roman Pisarev. Gold gilt lettering to spine. The are no inscriptions from previous owner, but there is some minor rubbing to the slipcase. There are additional black and white illustrations throughout the book by Pisarev, as well as being introduced by Kevin Crossley-Holland.
First published in 1954, was the first of the author's historical adventure novels for children about a Roman family in Britain in the 2nd century AD, after the building of Hadrian's Wall.
